Happy Family Day to constituents of Red Deer-North!
As Albertans, we understand the critical importance of family, which is why we take time every year to celebrate them. Whether you’re watching Netflix with your kids, enjoying the great outdoors, or calling grandma just to say hello, I hope you have find a special way to mark the occasion.
Some events happening in Red Deer include:
- Family Day at the Cronquist House | 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Spend time with your family while enjoying delicious chili, desserts, hot chocolate and/or coffee! - Family Snow Day at Sunnybrook Farm Museum | 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
The volunteers at Sunnybrook Farm Museum are hosting an afternoon of snow activities on Family Day. Children and adults alike can enjoy sliding down the hill by the pond (bring your own toboggan), sleigh rides with a team of Percheron horses, an outdoor marshmallow roast over a fire pit, and for a final warm-up move inside the historic Hanna Log House for some hot chocolate and cookies. Admission is by donation. - Family Day at the MAG! | 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
This year we’re celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Red Deer and District Museum Society. What do you wish for the MAG for the next 50 years? Write your best wishes on paper candles and add it to our cake mural. Come take a family selfie and participate in our ‘sketch party’ (sketch your favourite artifact on display), dance to 1970’s disco music, and come dressed in your favourite 1970’s fashion! This family-friendly event is free to attend. All ages are welcome! - Family Day Snowshoe Quest at Kerrywood Nature Centre | 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
It’s a new adventure every time you attend Snowshoe Quest! Test your Snowshoe skills along the 1 km trail with games and an obstacle course. Groups with children younger than about 3 years old may wish to bring a sled for the little ones. Everyone welcome. By suggested donation of $3/person or $10/family (cash preferred). Limited number of snowshoes available—first come, first served. Drop-in. Parents/guardians must accompany children/youth.
